Chairing a Vanity to Sanity Meeting

Hello, and welcome to the Vanity to Sanity Sex and Love Addicts Anonymous Meeting at Studio164. My name is __________ , I am __________ , and I have volunteered to chair this meeting. Vanity to Sanity meets online in this room four days per week: Monday, Tuesday, & Wednesday at 6:00pm, and Saturdays at 10:30am.

Before we get started please silence your cell phones.

Let’s open the meeting with a moment of silence followed by the Serenity Prayer.

Let’s go around the room and introduce ourselves by our first names. Again, my name is ________, and I am ___________.

Can I have someone read the SLAA preamble?

Will all those who are actively working the steps please raise their hands?

Will all those who are available to sponsor please raise their hands?

Can I have someone read the 12 steps?

SLAA is run according to the 12 Traditions. Because this month is _______, the corresponding tradition is the _______ tradition. It reads:

Identifying patterns of sex and love addiction may aid us in our recovery. We may recognize ourselves in some of the characteristics that follow. Can I have someone read the characteristics of sex and love addiction?

Optional: This meeting periodically reads the Characteristics of Sex and Love Anorexia. Can I have someone read this?

SLAA groups are fully self-supporting through the contributions of participants. Donations pay for online services and literature. Please donate $1 - $2 if it can be afforded. You can donate using Venmo or PayPal.

Is anyone celebrating a recovery milestone?

Are there any recovery-based announcements?

Vanity to Sanity has a Business meeting the first Tuesday of every other month at 7:05pm. All are welcome to attend.

Do we have a volunteer to chair next week’s meeting?

Vanity to Sanity has a rotating format that changes daily. Today will be:

Monday
General Book Study

We’ll begin by reading the SLAA text, focusing on chapters about withdrawal, relationships, and stories. If you’d like to purchase a book, they can be ordered online. Each person will read one or two paragraphs and then share on what’s read before passing to another person in the zoom meeting. If you don’t want to read or share, that’s OK, too. Simply state your name and pass to the next person. Around 6:30pm, we will stop reading open the floor for discussion. Please limit your shares to 3-minutes or less so everyone gets a chance to share. Can I have a volunteer to run the timer for this meeting? Who would like to begin reading?

Wednesday
Creating a Brighter Future

Somebody selects a topic from our popsicle stick number list for today’s creative project. To help stimulate ideas for our creativity, let's go around the room and each spend no more than one-minute sharing what today's concept or word means to us. If you do not want to share, feel free to pass. After that we will work independently to write, draw, or express ourselves creatively. At 6:45, we will take turns sharing what we have created during today's meeting. The sharing will end at 6:58. Can someone please read An Artisit’s Prayer? Can somebody give us a number between 1 and 50?

Friday
Top Line Meeting

This meeting is designed to focus on the positive aspects of recovery. The first two weeks of every month will feature a short reading focusing on positivity in recovery and top-line behaviors (5th week as well). The chair can choose a reading. The third week will feature a speaker sharing their recovery journey in context of their top lines, and the fourth week will be a share and feedback meeting. After the readings or the speaker there will be time to share. The opportunities for sharing can consist of a sample of our outer circle behavior, what outer circle activities we have done that week, how they impacted us, what outer circle activities we plan to do in the future, and of course time to check-in. Shares will be timed at 3 minutes. Do I have a volunteer to be the time keeper? The sharing will end at 6:58.
